A coordinated joint operation by Nigerian security forces has led to the neutralisation of at least 30 armed bandits following simultaneous attacks on Kadisau, Raudama, and Sabon Layi communities in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The security team—comprising Police Mobile Force (PMF) operatives, military personnel, and the Nigerian Air Force—responded swiftly to intelligence reports and launched a successful counteroffensive.

Operation Highlights:

  • Bandits were engaged in multiple fronts by ground forces and air strikes, which neutralised 30 fleeing assailants.
  • Air reinforcements from nearby Dandume and NAF components played a crucial role in the operation.
  • The joint forces repelled the attacks, forcing the bandits to retreat into the forest.

Confirmed Casualties:

According to Dr. Nasir Mua’zu, Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs:

  • Three PMF officers:
    • Inspector Suleiman Ibrahim
    • Inspector Bello Bala
    • Corporal Mohammed Lawal
  • Two Nigerian soldiers (names withheld) fell during the confrontation in Sabon Layi.
  • One civilian, Aliyu Sa’adu, from Kadisau, also died.
  • One injured victim, Ya’u Aliyu, is receiving medical treatment.

“We honour our fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten,” said Dr. Mua’zu.

Government Assurance:

  • Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has pledged unwavering support for families of the fallen.
  • He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to eradicating banditry and restoring lasting peace.

“We will not rest until every criminal element is eliminated from our territory,” the commissioner emphasized.

This development follows heightened security operations across northwestern Nigeria, where banditry and rural violence have continued to pose significant threats to civilian safety and regional stability.
