The Kaduna State Police Command has achieved significant successes in its ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities, including neutralizing a bandit, thwarting a kidnapping attempt, and apprehending suspected armed robbers and gunrunners.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, detailed these accomplishments in a statement, highlighting operations carried out between December 8 and 10, 2024, based on actionable intelligence.
- December 8: Officers from the Kasuwan Mata Division arrested 35-year-old Adamu Yahaya at a brothel in Zaria. He was found with a locally fabricated pistol, a live cartridge, and a pair of handcuffs.
- On the same day, a patrol team from the Barnawa Division intercepted two suspects, Andrew Emmanuel and Mendwas Peter Bulus, during a stop-and-search operation. Recovered items included a service pistol, two Infinix phones, and suspected Indian hemp. The suspects reportedly confessed to being involved in armed robbery activities across Kaduna.
- December 9: A surveillance team from the Dan Magaji Division intercepted three individuals on the Kano-Kaduna expressway. Searches uncovered 216 rounds of 9mm ammunition and one round of 7.62x39mm ammunition. The suspects—Buhari Suleiman, Jamil Yakubu, and Aliyu Abdullahi—are suspected of arms trafficking, with initial investigations revealing Yakubu had purchased ammunition from Suleiman.
- December 10: A joint operation by the Damakasuwa Divisional Police Officer (DPO), the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS), and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) thwarted a suspected bandit attack on Tudu Gishere residents. One bandit was neutralized, while others fled with injuries.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Abdullahi, praised the officers for their courage and effectiveness in these operations. He also called on Kaduna residents to support the police by providing credible and timely information to enhance crime-fighting efforts.
These successes underline the Kaduna Police Command’s commitment to ensuring safety and security across the state despite ongoing challenges posed by criminal elements.
