Popular Nollywood Actress and movie producer, Funke Akindele has issued a strong warning to anyone who will attempt to pirate her new movie, Everybody Loves Jenifer, and also called on her fans to discourage piracy.
The actress gave this warning in a video on her instagram page.
Funke urged those that will go to the cinema to see her new movie to avoid recording the movie from the screen, stating that adequate arrangements have been made to arrest anyone caught in such act.
The actress said she knows that her fans love and want to support her, they cannot do that when they pirate her movie by recording the movie from the screen.
“I know you’ve got mad love for me as my fan, I know you respect me so much, I know you want to support and promote ‘Everybody Loves Jenifer’, but you filming it is not supporting me.”
“Do not upload on your social media account. Don’t bring out your phones.”
“If you want to support me, go to the cinema, take pictures by the standees, post my trailers and the teasers of the movie – Everybody Loves Jenifer, then I will be fine”
Funke added that the act of filming from the screen is piracy and must be discouraged, stressing that anyone caught doing that will be arrested as serious security measures have been put in place.
The Nollywood star emphasized how piracy is affecting the industry.
“It is affecting us; it is killing us. It is not helping the brand. We need to grow more than this. We spent a lot of money on the project – Everybody Loves Jenifer.”
