The Edo State Police Command has arrested the recently deposed Ohen (priest) of Okhuoromi, Ovbokhan Igbinvia, along with five other suspects, in connection with alleged kidnapping activities in the Oredo Local Government Area.
Arrests and Recovered Items
In a sting operation led by the Command Intelligence and Rapid Response Squad in collaboration with the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, the following individuals were apprehended:
- Ovbokhan Igbinovia Kelvin, 43 (deposed priest)
- Osarodion Omoregie, 41
- Charles Otasowei, 55
- Edwin Igbinovia, 45
- Osagie Igbinovia, 44
Recovered from Igbinvia’s residence:
- 2 AK-47 rifles (serial numbers TH4782 and 6683)
- 2 locally made single-barrel shotguns
- 3 empty AK-47 magazines
- 1 OFM magazine
- 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition
- A suspected human skull
Ongoing Investigation
- The Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, confirmed the operation and said investigations are continuing to locate additional arms and arrest fleeing suspects.
- Authorities believe the group may be part of a larger kidnapping ring operating in the area.

Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, has reiterated the Command’s commitment to eradicating criminal activities across the state: “The Command will not be deterred or distracted in its resolve to rid the state of all forms of crime and criminality.”
