Niger State, Nigeria
Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has departed for Niger State to visit frontline troops and assess the security situation following a recent violent confrontation with terrorists in the area.
The visit comes after a fierce battle between Nigerian soldiers and insurgents, which resulted in significant casualties on both sides.
According to a senior military source at Army Headquarters, the COAS will meet with field commanders and troops to evaluate operational readiness and provide strategic directives aimed at intensifying counter-terrorism efforts.
Lt.-Gen. Oluyede emphasized the military’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property and pledged to defeat terrorist elements threatening communities in the region.
The high-level visit is expected to boost troop morale, reinforce tactical operations, and guide adjustments to military strategy focused on protecting civilians and maintaining stability.
The Nigerian Army remains committed to restoring peace and crushing terrorist threats under the firm leadership of Lt.-Gen. Oluyede.
