Aliyu Salisu, a 27-year-old national of Niger Republic, was successfully rescued alive after spending nearly 10 hours trapped beneath the rubble of a three-story building that collapsed on Saturday evening in the Life Camp area of Abuja.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command confirmed the rescue in the early hours of Sunday, August 3, stating that Salisu was immediately transported to Cedar Crest Hospital, Gudu, where he is currently responding well to treatment.
Swift Multi-Agency Response
In a statement issued by SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, the distress call was received around 6:15 p.m. on August 2. The Divisional Police Officer of Life Camp led a joint emergency response team to the scene.

- Julius Berger Nigeria Plc
The area was swiftly cordoned off, and coordinated rescue operations ensued.
“At about 4:00 a.m. on August 3, the rescue teams successfully extricated one Aliyu Salisu,” the police statement confirmed.
Police Commissioner Commends Efforts
FCT Police Commissioner Ajao Adewale, who personally supervised the operation, praised the collaborative efforts of the emergency agencies and civilian volunteers. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report emergencies or suspicious activity promptly.
