After months of medical care abroad, conjoined twins Hassana and Husaina have finally returned home to Kano State, following a successful separation surgery in Saudi Arabia.
The delicate procedure, carried out earlier this year at a specialist hospital in Riyadh, involved a team of highly skilled surgeons who worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of both girls. According to Saudi health officials, the surgery was complex but ultimately successful, giving the twins an opportunity to live independent lives.
Upon arrival in Kano, the family of the twins expressed overwhelming gratitude to both the Nigerian and Saudi governments for their support. Their parents described the girls’ return as a “miracle,” while neighbors and community members gathered to celebrate the joyous homecoming.
“We are deeply thankful for the prayers, support, and love shown to us. This is a new beginning for Hassana and Husaina,” the twins’ father said emotionally.
Furthermore, the Kano State Government praised the medical collaboration that made the life-saving surgery possible. Officials emphasized that the successful procedure highlighted the importance of international medical partnerships in addressing complex health challenges.
In addition, health experts noted that this success story will inspire more cross-border medical interventions, especially for rare conditions that require advanced facilities and expertise.
As Hassana and Husaina continue their recovery in Nigeria, doctors remain optimistic about their long-term health. The twins’ journey, transitioning from uncertainty to hope, has now become a symbol of resilience and international cooperation.
