The FIFA World Cup trophy will be presented in a specially designed Louis Vuitton trunk when it arrives at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, for Sunday’s 2026 World Cup final.

The luxury French fashion house has once again partnered with FIFA to transport football’s most coveted prize, continuing a tradition that has become part of the tournament’s final ceremony since the 2010 edition.

The handcrafted travel case was unveiled in New York City ahead of the final and features Louis Vuitton’s signature monogram canvas, gold-plated brass fittings and a prominent gold “V”, representing both “Victory” and “Vuitton.”

Inside, the trophy rests in a light beige leather lining designed to protect it while also enhancing its presentation before the championship match. The trunk was produced at the brand’s historic workshop in Asnières, France, where Louis Vuitton has crafted bespoke travel pieces for more than a century.

The 2026 tournament marks the latest chapter in the collaboration between FIFA and Louis Vuitton. The company has designed official trophy trunks for every men’s World Cup since South Africa 2010 and has also created custom cases for several other major sporting events, including Formula One and the Olympic Games. The continued partnership reflects the growing blend of luxury craftsmanship and global sporting spectacles.

Louis Vuitton Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Pietro Beccari said the trunk represents more than a protective case for the famous trophy.

“The trophy trunks symbolize much more than a protective object.”

“They represent the meeting point between savoir-faire and collective dreams.”

He added that the unveiling of the trophy has become one of the defining moments of every FIFA World Cup final watched by billions of fans around the world.

Only a select group of people—including FIFA officials, heads of state and World Cup-winning players and coaches—are permitted to handle the original trophy. Following Sunday’s final between Argentina and Spain, the winning captain will lift the iconic prize before it is returned to the FIFA Museum in Zurich, Switzerland, where it remains between tournaments.

The bespoke Louis Vuitton trunk will once again serve as the final stage in the trophy’s journey before football crowns its newest world champion.
