Welsh snooker player Jackson Page made history by becoming the first person to achieve two maximum 147 breaks in a single match. This remarkable feat occurred during his third-round qualifying match for the World Snooker Championship against England’s Allan Taylor. Page scored his first 147 break in the eighth frame on Sunday and followed it with another perfect break on Monday, ultimately winning the match 10-2 in Sheffield. His two maximums earned him a bonus of £147,000 (approximately $193,937).
Page, currently ranked world number 35, confirmed that while he’s accustomed to attempting such breaks in practice, he usually focuses on winning frames during matches. However, the success of his first 147 inspired him to pursue a second one, which paid off impressively.
This achievement contributes to a record-breaking season, with 15 maximum breaks recorded so far—the most ever in a single snooker season. Page will now face England’s world number 30, Joe O’Connor, in the final qualifying round for a place in the main draw at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
