In the latest FIFA world ranking released on November 28 2024, the Super Eagles of Nigeria recorded the biggest drop, currently ranking 44 in the world with 1482.23 points.
In October 2024, the Super Eagles ranked 36 with 1503 points, currently dropping eight places down the table to stay at 44th position below Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Algeria, which occupy the 14th, 17th, 33rd, and 37th positions respectively.
The reason for this big drop is due to the poor performances of the Super Eagles in two AFCON group D qualifiers, which they lost against low-ranked Rwanda and drew against Benin Republic.
Argentina currently seats at the top of the table with France, Spain, England, Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and Germany occupying the top 10 positions respectively.
The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking is determined using the Elo Model. This method adds or subtracts points for matches to or from a team’s existing point total. The points, which are added or subtracted are partially determined by: relative team strength, match importance, match result, and expected match result.
