Damon Heta clinched his first PDC title of 2025 with an 8–6 victory over Nathan Aspinall in the final of Players Championship 13, held at the Autotron Centre in Rosmalen, Netherlands. The Australian surged to a 4–1 lead, but Aspinall rallied to level the match at 6–6. Heta then secured the final two legs, finishing with an average of 94.91 compared to Aspinall’s 88.45.
This win propels Heta to seventh on the PDC Order of Merit, marking his ninth Players Championship title and his first since 2024.
In a notable upset, Dutchman Michael van Gerwen suffered a first-round defeat to 51-year-old Belgian Mario Vandenbogaerde. Van Gerwen led 4–2 before Vandenbogaerde claimed four consecutive legs to win 6–4. This marks Van Gerwen’s fourth consecutive early exit in Players Championship events.
Additionally, Wessel Nijman achieved a nine-dart finish during his 6–0 first-round victory over Rob Owen, though he was eliminated in the quarter-finals. The Players Championship series continues with its 14th event on Tuesday, April 15, also at the Autotron Centre in Rosmalen.
