The Head Coach of the Super Eagle, Eric Chelle has confirmed his appointment as the head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Following his unveiling today by the Nigerian Football Association, NFF at the media center of the Mushood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, the 47 years old Franco-Malian and the former coach of he Malian national tea, and MC Oran expressed his dire to and love for the Super Eagles
Taking to his instagram page, he wrote – “When I was young, this is my favourite team. I bought the shirts, I watched the games everyday, during the world cup in France (1998). I was in Marseille, It’s my team.”
The NFF chairman in his opening remarks during the unveiling ceremony said the understands how passionate Nigerians are about the game of football and the various opinions on social media since Chelle;s announcement, but Gusau assured Nigerian that Erich Chelle is in Nigeria to work.
According to him “if Eric can give us what happened by Mali, by the grace of God we shall go to the world cup”
The NFF boss pleaded to stop making derogatory statements, stressing that all coaches that have been employed in Nigeria have gone through criticisms. He cited the likes of Westerhof:
:”We want somebody that understands the mentality of African Football and Eric is here and he is going to give us the result.”
He therefore, called on Nigerians to join the NFF in giving Chelle the necessary support he needs to enable him deliver without any hitches.
The highlight of the ceremony was the formal handing over of the new coach to The NFF by the head of the NFF technical committee and the signing of the contract.”
In his speech at the unveiling ceremony, Eric said he is proud and honoured, describing the job “as a very big job.”
Chelle said, He is proud to be the coach of the most populous black nation and thank the NFF and Nigerians for the opportunity.
