Team Delta has emerged as the overall winner of the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF) held in Ogun State, finishing at the top of the final medals table with a commanding total of 323 medals.
Delta secured 122 gold, 96 silver, and 105 bronze medals to retain their dominance in Nigeria’s premier multi-sport competition.
Top Five States on the Medal Table:
- Delta – 122 gold, 96 silver, 105 bronze (323 total)
- Bayelsa – 92 gold, 62 silver, 70 bronze (224 total)
- Ogun (Host) – 90 gold, 64 silver, 78 bronze (232 total)
- Rivers – 74 gold, 56 silver, 63 bronze (193 total)
- Edo – 63 gold, 96 silver, 115 bronze (274 total)
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a total of 2,052 medals were awarded across all categories to participants from Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The National Sports Festival, a biennial event organized by the Federal Government of Nigeria, serves as a platform for promoting national unity, sportsmanship, and youth development through healthy competition among the country’s top athletes.
The just-concluded edition, hosted in Abeokuta, Ogun State, witnessed thousands of athletes compete in a wide range of sports, from athletics to swimming, wrestling, and team sports.
