Internationally acclaimed Afro-fusion star, Burna Boy, has hinted that fatherhood may be his next big move, revealing that he’s now seriously considering having children.
The Grammy Award-winning artist, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, made the candid statement during his 34th birthday bash held in Lagos on Wednesday night. Reflecting on life, Burna Boy said a recent heart-to-heart with billionaire businessman Jowizaza got him thinking about the future.
“Na so Jowizaza follow me talk the last time, I come dey think about my life. Omo, I don dey old oh, I for begin born pikins,” he said in Pidgin English, indicating that he’s feeling the weight of time and contemplating starting a family.
Known for his genre-blending sound that fuses Afrobeat, dancehall, reggae, and hip-hop, Burna Boy first shot into the spotlight with his 2012 breakout single Like to Party, off his debut album L.I.F.E.
Over the years, the Port Harcourt native has amassed a host of accolades, including his landmark Grammy win in 2021 for Twice As Tall, which earned him the ‘Best World Music Album’. His cultural impact has also earned him global recognition, including a spot on Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2024.
