In a major move against cybercrime, Microsoft has announced the seizure of 340 websites linked to phishing activities. The tech giant said the coordinated action was part of its ongoing effort to protect users from online fraud and identity theft.

Phishing remains one of the most widespread forms of cyberattacks, as criminals create fake websites to trick users into revealing sensitive information such as passwords, banking details, and personal data. Therefore, Microsoft’s intervention is seen as a crucial step in disrupting these malicious networks.

Moreover, the company revealed that the targeted websites were designed to impersonate trusted brands and services. By doing so, they deceived unsuspecting victims into providing confidential information. However, through close collaboration with law enforcement agencies and cybersecurity experts, Microsoft was able to shut down the domains and take control of them.

In addition, the tech giant emphasized that this action is part of a larger strategy to strengthen global cybersecurity.

According to Microsoft, protecting users requires not only advanced technology but also partnerships with governments, regulators, and internet service providers.

Meanwhile, cybersecurity analysts have praised the move, noting that dismantling phishing networks not only protects individual users but also reduces the overall threat to businesses and financial institutions. At the same time, experts caution that cybercriminals are constantly evolving, which means that continuous vigilance is essential.

Ultimately, the seizure of 340 phishing websites demonstrates Microsoft’s commitment to safeguarding digital spaces and reinforcing trust in online services. It also serves as a reminder for internet users to remain cautious, verify website authenticity, and adopt stronger security practices.
