The Israeli military says it has killed Gholamreza Soleimani, the head of Iran’s Basij paramilitary force, in a targeted operation, marking one of the most significant strikes against Tehran’s security leadership in the ongoing conflict.
According to Israeli officials, the strike was carried out based on precise intelligence and successfully eliminated Soleimani, who led the Basij, a key paramilitary arm linked to Iran’s security apparatus.
Israeli authorities described the operation as part of a broader campaign aimed at weakening Iran’s military command structure and disrupting networks tied to regional operations.
However, Iranian officials have not immediately confirmed the claim, and independent verification of Soleimani’s reported death remains pending.
The development comes amid escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran, with both sides engaged in a series of retaliatory strikes targeting strategic and military assets.
