The Presidency has dismissed circulating reports claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is preparing for an official trip to the United States, describing them as false and misleading.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the Presidency clarified that there is no scheduled U.S. visit at this time and urged the public to disregard the speculation.
“The reports suggesting that President Tinubu is planning to travel to the United States are entirely unfounded,” the statement read. “The President’s current focus remains on domestic governance and implementing key policies aimed at stabilizing the Nigerian economy.”
Ngelale further explained that any future foreign engagements by the President would be formally announced through official channels to avoid misinformation and unnecessary public confusion.
The clarification comes after several online platforms published unverified claims that Tinubu was set to embark on a diplomatic mission to Washington, D.C. Observers believe the rumour may have stemmed from recent high-level meetings between Nigerian and American officials on trade and security cooperation.
The Presidency reiterated its commitment to transparency and open communication, emphasizing that Nigerians would be duly informed of any official international trips when the need arises.
