Tesla’s sales in Germany dropped sharply in February, with only 1,429 vehicles registered, a 76% decline from last year, according to the KBA transport authority. This follows a nearly 60% drop in January, bringing Tesla’s total sales slump to 70% in early 2025.
The decline coincides with Elon Musk’s public support for the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), which secured 21% of the vote in the February 23 elections. Musk, via his platform X, claimed AfD was the only party that could “save Germany.”
Despite its electoral gains, the AfD remains isolated by mainstream parties due to historical concerns. Meanwhile, Germany’s EV market is recovering, with 36,000 battery-powered vehicles registered in February, up 31% from last year—contrasting Tesla’s continued struggles.
