Infinix has announced a strategic partnership with Italian design house Pininfarina, marking a significant step in the smartphone maker’s push into the premium segment. Unveiled during Business of Design Week 2025, the alliance will debut with the Infinix NOTE 60 Ultra, the first device in what both companies describe as a new flagship design series. Pininfarina, founded in 1930, is globally known for shaping iconic automotive designs including the Ferrari Testarossa and Alfa Romeo Spider, and has since expanded into lifestyle, architecture and yacht design.
The collaboration signals Infinix’s intent to strengthen its design credentials at a time when the brand is gaining momentum in key emerging markets. According to company statements citing IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, Infinix posted the largest quarter-on-quarter shipment increase in Southeast Asia in the second quarter of 2025, with unit shipments in the region rising 27.8%. IDC’s broader market data also showed global smartphone shipments grew modestly in that quarter, underscoring how competitive the market remains.
Infinix Chief Executive Tony Zhao said the partnership forms part of the company’s broader “premiumization” strategy, adding that the work with Pininfarina would help establish “a new aesthetic benchmark” for future flagship products. Fabio Calorio, Pininfarina’s Senior Vice President of Brand, said the project offered an opportunity to translate the studio’s long-standing design philosophy of combining beauty and performance into consumer technology.
The companies have so far released only teaser material for the NOTE 60 Ultra, but Infinix says the device is intended to fuse Pininfarina’s Italian design language with its own technological ambitions. A later Infinix product page described the phone’s look as being inspired by supercars, suggesting that performance-led styling will be central to the device’s identity.
For Infinix, the partnership is more than a branding exercise. It reflects a deliberate attempt to move beyond its reputation as a value-focused smartphone brand and compete more aggressively in higher-end categories through design-led differentiation. Full details on the NOTE 60 Ultra’s features, design philosophy and availability are expected to be released separately.
