The World Health Organization has confirmed that at least 13 children were killed in a strike on a hospital in Sudan, raising fresh concerns over the impact of ongoing violence on civilians and healthcare facilities.
In a statement, the WHO said the attack resulted in multiple casualties, including children, and caused significant damage to the medical facility. The agency condemned the strike and reiterated that hospitals must be protected under international humanitarian law.
The organisation warned that continued attacks on healthcare infrastructure are worsening an already dire humanitarian situation, limiting access to essential medical services for vulnerable populations.
WHO officials called for the protection of civilians and health workers, stressing that such incidents further strain Sudan’s fragile health system amid the ongoing conflict.
