Israel has said its military carried out fresh airstrikes against what it described as “Hezbollah command centres” in southern Lebanon, as tensions along the border continue to escalate.
The Israeli military said the strikes targeted facilities allegedly used by Hezbollah for operational planning, intelligence coordination and militant activities.
According to Israeli defence officials, the attacks were launched in response to security threats and cross-border hostilities, with the military accusing Hezbollah fighters of operating near civilian areas.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces said the operation was aimed at weakening Hezbollah’s military infrastructure and preventing further attacks against Israeli territory.
“Hezbollah command and operational centres were targeted in precision strikes,” the military stated.
Lebanese media reported explosions in several areas of southern Lebanon, while residents described intense aerial bombardment during the attacks.
There were no immediate confirmed casualty figures, although emergency teams were reportedly deployed to affected locations.
Hezbollah has not issued a full response to the latest Israeli claims, but the group has previously warned that continued strikes on Lebanese territory would provoke retaliation.
The latest escalation comes amid heightened regional tensions linked to ongoing conflicts involving Israel and Iran-backed groups across the Middle East.
International observers and humanitarian organisations have expressed growing concern that repeated cross-border attacks could trigger a broader regional confrontation.
The United Nations and several foreign governments have repeatedly called for restraint from both sides, warning that continued violence risks destabilising the already fragile security situation in the region.
Analysts say the Israeli-Hezbollah border tensions remain among the most dangerous flashpoints in the Middle East, with fears that any major escalation could rapidly expand into a wider conflict.
Residents in border communities on both sides have continued to face displacement and disruption due to recurring exchanges of fire and military operations.
Diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing hostilities have so far produced limited progress as both sides maintain strong security positions.
