The United States intelligence community has stepped up warnings about potential retaliatory attacks linked to Iran, prompting increased concern among federal and local security agencies as tensions rise.
Intelligence bulletins distributed to law enforcement nationwide indicate that calls for revenge from Iranian leaders and their supporters have heightened the threat landscape. The alerts reference religious edicts from senior Iranian clerics urging Muslims around the world to avenge the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
US security officials caution that such statements, along with online messaging from pro-Iran groups, could motivate extremists sympathetic to Tehran to carry out attacks. One message attributed to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned that “the enemy … will no longer have security anywhere in the world, even in their own homes.”
Authorities stress that there is currently no evidence of a specific or credible plot targeting the United States. Nevertheless, law enforcement agencies have been placed on heightened alert while officials monitor potential threats tied to Iran and its proxy networks.
Officials say the warnings are part of routine intelligence sharing designed to help security agencies prepare for possible attacks and safeguard the public as the crisis unfolds.
