President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to participate in the 17th BRICS Summit, following a successful state visit to Saint Lucia aimed at deepening Nigeria-Caribbean relations.
During his time in Saint Lucia, Tinubu met with key national figures, including Governor General Cyril Errol Charles and Prime Minister Philip Pierre, and addressed a special joint session of the Saint Lucian Senate and House of Assembly at Sandals Grande.
Strengthening Nigeria-Caribbean Ties
Tinubu’s engagements focused on expanding economic, educational, and cultural cooperation between Nigeria and Caribbean nations. At a high-level luncheon with Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) leaders, discussions highlighted opportunities in trade, tourism, agriculture, and academic collaboration.
He also visited the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College in Castries, promoting educational partnerships and people-to-people ties. Prime Minister Pierre personally saw Tinubu off at Hewanorra International Airport, underscoring the warm diplomatic relations between both countries.
