Russian forces have stepped up offensive operations in Ukraine, pressing advances along multiple frontlines in the long‑running conflict, including the capture of settlements in contested eastern regions, according to military assessments. These manoeuvres underscore Moscow’s persistent military pressure nearly four years after the invasion began.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed growing apprehension about the wider geopolitical landscape, warning that the ongoing war involving Iran and the United States is straining international attention and defence resources critical to Ukraine’s defence. He highlighted concerns that air‑defence supplies are being diverted to Middle East operations, potentially weakening Ukraine’s ability to counter Russian missile and drone attacks.
Zelenskyy also underscored the broader risks of global focus shifting away from Moscow’s aggression, noting that heightened conflict in the Middle East could complicate Western support and delay diplomatic efforts to resolve the Ukraine war.
The intensified Russian offensive and Kyiv’s diplomatic concerns reflect a tense period for Ukraine as it seeks sustained international backing amid multiple overlapping security challenges.
