Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel-Harpaz has reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Nigeria, highlighting technology innovation and security cooperation as key pillars. Speaking in Abuja during a bilateral engagement, she cited the Innovation Fellowship for Aspiring Inventors and Researchers (i-FAIR) as a unique initiative reserved for countries with close ties to Israel.
Haskel-Harpaz pledged deeper collaboration in counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, security financing, and training, stressing that the fight against terrorism extends beyond the battlefield to media and online platforms. She also emphasised faith-based diplomacy as a strong bridge between both nations, expressing gratitude for Nigerian prayers and support for Israel, especially since the October 7, 2023 terrorist attack.
TETFund Executive Secretary Sonny Echono praised Israel’s role in fostering Nigerian innovation, urging sustained government funding and public patronage of local products to boost revenue and drive national growth. Both sides agreed that innovation, creativity, and strategic cooperation are vital to addressing security challenges and achieving sustainable development.
