The Senate has launched a two-day public hearing on proposed tax reform bills, bringing together key stakeholders from the nation’s economic and financial sectors.
Among those in attendance are the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji; Group CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari; members of the Federal Executive Council; heads of relevant agencies; and Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa, assured that the hearing would be conducted transparently and in the best interest of the nation.
He emphasized that the review aims to modernize tax laws to reflect current economic realities. The proposed reforms seek to enhance fairness, equity, and inclusivity while eliminating inefficiencies in the existing tax framework.
Senator Musa urged stakeholders and the general public to participate actively in the discussions, underscoring the importance of collective contributions in shaping a tax system that fosters economic growth and national prosperity.
