The committee held its inaugural meeting this week in Abuja, with a focus on laying the groundwork for a smooth and efficient electoral process.
Chaired by Prof. Rhoda H. Gumus, the EPPC has been tasked with several key responsibilities, including reviewing its Terms of Reference, formulating a detailed work plan, setting up sub-committees, designing an Elections Project Plan (EPP) Template, and establishing deadlines for the submission of planning documents.
Among the National Commissioners present at the inauguration were:
Kenneth Ukeagu – Chair, Tenders Board (Member)
Dr. Baba Bila – Chair, EOLC (Member)
Sam Olumekun – Chair, EPMC (Member)
Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru – Chair, BEI (Member)
During the event, Prof. Gumus underscored the significance of early planning in strengthening Nigeria’s electoral system.
She urged committee members to carry out their duties with diligence, stating, “Early planning is crucial to ensuring transparency and integrity in our electoral process. We must remain committed to upholding the highest standards in election management.”
