The All Progressives Congress has concluded its national convention in Abuja, electing a new National Working Committee (NWC) led by Nentawe Yilwatda as national chairman.
Delegates at the two-day gathering endorsed party leaders through a consensus arrangement, returning Yilwatda alongside other key officials, including Ajibola Basiru as national secretary. The process, largely ratified by voice vote, was aimed at maintaining unity within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The convention, held at Eagle Square, drew thousands of delegates and top party figures, including government officials and state governors. Party stakeholders described the exercise as critical to strengthening internal cohesion and positioning the APC for future electoral contests.
Newly affirmed NWC members were immediately sworn in and are expected to steer the party’s affairs over the next four years. The consensus-driven outcome reflects efforts by party leaders to avoid internal divisions and project stability as preparations intensify for upcoming national polls.
