Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has urged leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to embrace reconciliation and put aside ongoing legal battles for the sake of the party and the country.
Her appeal follows the recent Court of Appeal ruling regarding the party’s national convention. In a statement she personally signed on Tuesday, the senator encouraged party members nationwide to treat the judgement as an opportunity to restore unity, strengthen internal democracy, and reposition the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The Court of Appeal has spoken, and as a democratic party that believes in the rule of law, we must shift focus from litigation to reconciliation and rebuilding,” she said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan cautioned that internal disputes among party leaders should not derail the hopes of supporters preparing for future polls. “Our members across the grassroots… must not become casualties of prolonged disagreements among leaders. Their aspirations and the future of our party must remain paramount,” she added.
She also called on party leaders to demonstrate compromise and statesmanship, stressing the importance of dialogue and collective commitment to the party’s progress. The senator further urged stakeholders to organise an inclusive and credible national convention in line with INEC guidelines.
“Nigerians are watching, and we must show that the PDP remains ready and capable of leading the nation forward,” she said.
