Abuja — The newly created North Central Development Commission (NCDC) says media figures circulating on its proposed ₦140 billion 2025 budget don’t reflect adjustments made during its recent budget defence at the National Assembly.
In a statement, James Uloko, Executive Director, Corporate Services, said the one‑month‑old agency presented its maiden proposal to the Senate Committee on NCDC on September 30, 2025. The committee held open and closed sessions, scrutinised the submission, and issued preliminary approval, pending concurrence by the House Committee on NCDC.
Uloko noted the ₦140bn topline remains intact, but line‑item allocations are still being refined and will appear in the harmonised document after both chambers conclude work. He emphasised the budget is a working document until passed by the Senate and House and duly authenticated.
Amid public interest in spending plans, the Commission pledged transparency, accountability, and regulatory compliance, promising equitable development across North Central states and the FCT. The NCDC said it will conduct needs assessments and stakeholder consultations to craft an inclusive regional development roadmap.
The Commission urged the public to disregard speculative reports and await the final approved budget, which will outline 2025 operational priorities.
