In response to recent protests by retired military personnel over alleged unpaid entitlements, the Military Pensions Board (MPB) has reiterated its commitment to the welfare, dignity, and service of Nigerian military veterans.
MPB spokesman, Squadron Leader Aliyu Mohammed, said in a statement on Sunday that the Board remains dedicated to administering benefits with fairness, transparency, and accountability.
While acknowledging concerns raised by some voluntary retirees, Mohammed clarified that several claims were outside the Board’s jurisdiction. He stressed, however, that the gratuity component—within the MPB’s mandate—had been addressed promptly.
Demonstrating a proactive approach, MPB Chairman, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu, invited the retirees to two roundtable meetings on August 6 and 8, 2025, at the Board’s headquarters in Abuja.
The sessions, attended by Directors of Army, Navy, and Air Force Pensions, were described as “elaborate and highly interactive,” with detailed explanations on gratuity calculations provided to the retirees.
Mohammed noted that the meetings resolved specific concerns and strengthened trust between the Board and the veteran community.
He urged all retirees to use official MPB communication channels for future issues, assuring that any matter within its purview would be addressed promptly, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
