The Nigeria Police Force’s National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) has reported significant strides in combating cybercrime, recovering 115,237.91 USDT and $84,000, with the funds restituted to victims of cybercrime.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed the achievements in Abuja on Tuesday, January 7. He noted that the recoveries underscore the centre’s commitment to protecting citizens and delivering justice to victims of fraudulent activities.
Key Achievements of NPF-NCCC:
- Arrests and Prosecutions: Over 751 individuals involved in cybercrime were arrested and prosecuted.
- Seized Devices: 685 devices used in cybercrime were recovered, including 467 mobile phones, 137 laptops, 46 routers, 4 servers, 1 drone, and 4 Starlink devices.
- Property Confiscations: Confiscated assets included 16 houses, 39 plots of land, 14 land documents, and 26 vehicles, effectively disrupting cybercriminal infrastructure.
In addition to these accomplishments, the NPF-NCCC was recognized by INTERPOL’s Cybercrime Directorate as the Best Cybercrime Unit in Africa for 2024, outshining 54 other African countries.
ACP Adejobi emphasized the unit’s focus on dismantling cybercriminal networks and fostering a safer digital environment for Nigerians. He added that the unit remains dedicated to protecting citizens and ensuring justice through strategic operations and advanced technology.
