Oyedele, 50, hails from Ikaram, Akoko in Ondo State, and previously chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, which revamped Nigeria’s tax system. An economist, accountant, and public policy expert, he holds an HND in accountancy and finance from Yaba College of Technology and a BSc in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He has also completed executive programs at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and Harvard Kennedy School.
His professional career includes 22 years at PwC, where he rose to Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. Oyedele also serves as a professor at Babcock University and a visiting scholar at Lagos Business School.
In addition, President Tinubu has nominated Senator Magnus Abe as chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), following Gbenga Komolafe’s resignation. Engineer Paul Yaro Jezhi, former Trade Union Congress chairman in Kaduna State, and Mr. Sunday Adebayo Babalola, ex-deputy director at the defunct Department of Petroleum Resources, have been nominated as non-executive commissioners.
Akpabio referred all petroleum-related nominations to the Senate Committee on Petroleum Upstream for screening and confirmation.
