Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court has withdrawn from handling two cases instituted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
The judge, who was recently reassigned the matters by Chief Judge John Tsoho, said his decision was based on personal considerations and the need to serve the interest of justice. The withdrawal came shortly after a civil forfeiture suit involving 57 properties allegedly linked to Malami was mentioned in court.
The cases were previously handled by Justice Emeka Nwite, who presided as vacation judge during the Christmas recess, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
