Vice President Kashim Shettima has raised the alarm that at least 15 million Nigerians are at risk of flood disasters in 2025. Speaking at the Validation Workshop on the Anticipatory Action Framework for Nigeria held in Abuja, Shettima emphasized the need for proactive, coordinated efforts between federal and state agencies to mitigate the looming crisis.
The Vice President criticized Nigeria’s past reactive approach to disasters and urged a shift towards anticipatory action to prevent devastating outcomes.
“There can never be a military solution to the crisis in Plateau, North-East,” he added, calling for non-kinetic strategies to resolve ongoing security challenges. He also condemned recent attacks in Plateau State, offering condolences to the affected families.
The workshop marks a key step in mobilizing national efforts to confront both environmental and security threats through collaboration, early action, and resilience-building.
