ABUJA — President Bola Tinubu has approved fresh leadership for three federal agencies, a move the Presidency says is aimed at strengthening key institutions and accelerating reforms.
In a statement on Tuesday, Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, announced the following appointments:
- Bello Bawa Bwari (Niger State) as Director-General, National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA), for an initial four-year term effective September 18, 2025, in line with Section 5 of the NBMA Act, 2015.
- Hon. Barr. Aminu Junaidu (Zamfara State) as Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Investment and Securities Tribunal (IST), for a five-year tenure, effective September 18, 2025.
- Olayiwola Nurudeen Awakan as Director-General, Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), for an initial four-year term, effective September 2, 2025.
The Presidency said the selections reflect President Tinubu’s determination to “reposition strategic institutions,” urging the appointees to deploy their expertise to advance mandates in biosafety oversight, capital-market dispute resolution and tourism development.
NBMA regulates modern biotechnology and biosafety to protect human health and the environment; the IST adjudicates capital-market disputes to bolster investor confidence; and the NTDC is charged with marketing and growing Nigeria’s tourism sector.
“The President expects measurable improvements in service delivery and institutional performance for the good of the nation,” the statement added.
