Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn against Madagascar, Guinea-Bissau and Tanzania in the qualification series for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The draw, conducted on Wednesday by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), placed Nigeria in a competitive group as the three-time African champions begin preparations for another continental campaign.
The Super Eagles will be aiming to secure an early qualification ticket after their impressive run at the last AFCON tournament, where they reached the final before losing to hosts Côte d’Ivoire.
Guinea-Bissau, who have faced Nigeria in previous AFCON competitions, are expected to provide familiar opposition, while Tanzania and Madagascar will also be seeking to challenge for qualification spots.
The qualifying fixtures are scheduled to begin later this year, with group winners and selected best-performing teams advancing to the tournament proper.
Nigeria’s coaching crew and players are expected to intensify preparations ahead of the opening round of matches as the team targets another strong outing on the continental stage.
AFCON 2027 will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, marking the first time the East African nations will stage the competition together.
