LONDON — Nigeria’s Super Eagles have won the 2026 Unity Cup after defeating Jamaica 3-0 in the final at The Valley in London, sealing another successful outing in the diaspora-focused international tournament.
Nigeria produced a dominant performance against the Reggae Boyz, taking control early and maintaining their advantage throughout the match. Alhassan Yusuf opened the scoring in the third minute, giving the Super Eagles a perfect start before Jamaica could settle into the game. Terem Moffi doubled Nigeria’s lead in the second half, and the Super Eagles later added a third to complete a comfortable victory.
The win secured Nigeria’s fourth Unity Cup title, strengthening the country’s strong record in the competition. The Super Eagles had reached the final after beating Zimbabwe 2-0 earlier in the week, with debutant Femi Azeez scoring both goals in that semifinal.
For head coach Eric Chelle, the victory provides a useful boost as he continues to assess players and rebuild confidence in the national team. The tournament gave Nigeria an opportunity to test squad depth, integrate new faces and maintain competitive rhythm outside major qualifiers.
The Unity Cup, staged in London, brings together national teams with strong diaspora communities in the United Kingdom. This year’s edition featured Nigeria, Jamaica, Zimbabwe and India, with matches played at Charlton Athletic’s The Valley.
Nigeria were also defending champions, having defeated Jamaica in the 2025 final on penalties after a 2-2 draw. That victory was widely celebrated by Nigerian supporters in London and across the diaspora.
Saturday’s final was another lively occasion, with Nigerian fans creating a colourful atmosphere in the stands. The result will be welcomed by supporters who have demanded stronger performances from the Super Eagles after recent inconsistency in major competitions and qualifiers.
While the Unity Cup is not a major continental tournament, Nigeria’s convincing win offers encouragement ahead of more demanding assignments. Chelle will be pleased not only with the scoreline but also with the team’s attacking sharpness and defensive control.
For Jamaica, the defeat was disappointing after reaching another Unity Cup final, but the Reggae Boyz remain a competitive side with growing international experience.
For Nigeria, however, the night belonged to the Super Eagles, who left London with silverware and renewed momentum.
