Liverpool have been crowned Premier League champions after a commanding 5-1 victory over Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday, securing their 20th league title and drawing level with Manchester United’s record.
Under new manager Arne Slot, the Reds needed just one point to secure the title, but goals from Luis Díaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, and a Destiny Udogie own goal delivered the win in style. Salah’s strike was his 185th Premier League goal, making him the highest-scoring foreign player in league history.
Captain Virgil van Dijk called it an emotional moment: “We deserve this. I was desperate to win it for the fans and for ourselves.”
The title was sealed after Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace left them mathematically unable to catch Liverpool, who now sit 15 points clear with four games remaining.
Slot, who replaced Jürgen Klopp last summer, paid tribute to his predecessor after the match: “Let’s forget it’s the second title in 35 years — it’s the second in five years.”
