Nikola Jokić has etched his name into NBA history by becoming the third player—and the first center—to average a triple-double over an entire season. This remarkable feat was confirmed during the Denver Nuggets’ 117–109 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night, where Jokić recorded 26 points, 16 rebounds, and 13 assists, marking his 34th triple-double of the season.
Jokić’s season averages stand at 29.8 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 10.3 assists per game, all career highs. His 34 triple-doubles this season are the fourth-most in a single season in NBA history, trailing only Russell Westbrook’s 42 in 2016–17. With the regular season concluding, the Nuggets (49–32) are aiming to secure a top-six seed in the Western Conference. They will face the Houston Rockets in their final game on Sunday.
Jokić’s historic performance has also intensified the MVP race, with many considering him a leading candidate for the award.
