The Confederation of African Football, CAF has imposed a fine of $50 000 on the Libyan.
Following incidents during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Qualifiers fixture against Benin in Benghazi on 18 November 2024, the Disciplinary Board charged the Libyan Football Federation with misconduct.
The CAF Disciplinary Board found the Libyan Football Federation guilty of violating articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code for the behaviour of its supporters and officials during and after the match and consequently ordered it to pay a fine of $50, 000.
The Libyan Football Federation was also ordered to play its next two (2) official national team matches behind closed doors.
Libya in its quest for a place in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco has been penalized early for the inhumane treatment given to the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Libya, which led to the cancelation of the Match and the awarding of full three points to the Super Eagles.
The CAF Disciplinary Board also charged the Beninese Football Federation for its non-collaboration with the Disciplinary Board, in violation of article 45 of the CAF Disciplinary Code during their TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Qualifiers fixture against Rwanda, and consequently fined it the sum of $5, 000.
The Disciplinary Board also imposed a fine of $50,000, with $25,000 suspended for misconduct of its officials at the end of the match.
