Nigerian hip-hop artist Odumodublvck, born Tochukwu Ojogwu, has responded fiercely to critics questioning his rap credentials, accusing them of being intimidated by his success and the cultural impact of his music. In an interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, the rapper defended his style and pointed to the global resonance of his 2023 breakout hit Declan Rice, which was famously used by Arsenal FC to unveil the signing of midfielder Declan Rice.
“They want to talk down on it because they feel intimidated… No Nigerian hip-hop song has had more impact in the world like ‘Declan Rice,’” he said.
Odumodublvck also cited his multilingual lyrical range and high-profile collaborations, including Good Devil Wells White with Larry G, as proof of his versatility and relevance. Rejecting claims that he isn’t a “real rapper,” he described such criticism as ungrateful and baseless, adding, “God will punish all of them.” The rapper maintains that his unique sound is not only legitimate but pioneering within Nigeria’s evolving hip-hop scene.
