The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated fairness, equity, and inclusivity in his leadership style, ensuring that all regions of the country are adequately represented in governance and national development. The declaration was made during a press conference in Abuja, where government officials addressed recent criticisms alleging regional bias in federal appointments and project distribution.
According to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, President Tinubu’s administration has prioritized national unity and balanced representation since taking office. He emphasized that appointments into key government positions, allocation of infrastructure projects, and distribution of federal interventions have all been carried out with fairness to every geopolitical zone.
“From the North to the South, East to West, this administration has made deliberate efforts to ensure that no section of the country is marginalized. President Tinubu believes in the Nigerian project and continues to demonstrate that belief through his actions,” the Minister stated.
Providing evidence to support the government’s claim, the Minister listed high-profile appointments from various regions. These include:
- Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa (North-East)
- Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike (South-South)
- Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume (North-Central)
- Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila (South-West)
- Minister of Works, Dave Umahi (South-East)
“This balanced spread of appointments across the six geopolitical zones reflects the President’s commitment to unity and inclusive development,” Idris added.
Moving forward, the Federal Government also highlighted key infrastructure projects currently underway in different regions. These include the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Abuja-Kano Expressway, the Enugu-Onitsha Road rehabilitation, and the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri railway reconstruction.
According to the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, these projects are strategically distributed to stimulate economic growth and improve national connectivity. “No region is left behind. Every Nigerian will feel the impact of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Umahi assured.
Addressing the Critics
In response to critics who accuse the President of favoring certain parts of the country, the government insists that such narratives are politically motivated and unfounded. The administration maintains that it will continue to pursue merit-based leadership, equity, and fairness regardless of tribe, religion, or political affiliation.
Furthermore, the government called on Nigerians to support the administration’s efforts to rebuild the economy, tackle insecurity, and enhance infrastructure development.
