Liverpool began their Premier League title defence with a 4-2 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield on Friday, snatching the win in the closing moments thanks to Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah.
Antoine Semenyo had twice dragged the visitors level — a brave response after he reported suffering racial abuse from a supporter during the match — cancelling out earlier efforts from Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo.
But with Anfield still grieving the loss of forward Diogo Jota, who died in a tragic car crash last month, Chiesa struck on 89 minutes before Salah sealed the result in stoppage time.
