Cameroon’s President Paul Biya, 92, announced on Sunday that he will seek an eighth term in the upcoming October elections, aiming to extend his nearly 43-year rule. In posts on X in both English and French, Biya said, “Together, there are no challenges we cannot meet.” As party leader, he was already the de facto candidate of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM).
