The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) is celebrating a major milestone as its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Mr. Olufemi Soneye, receives the prestigious 2024 Media Manager of the Year Award from Champion Newspapers.
The award, presented during a high-profile event at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos on Saturday, recognizes Soneye’s outstanding leadership in advancing strategic communications and strengthening stakeholder relations at NNPC Ltd.
The occasion attracted top figures from across sectors, including Mr. Ernest Ebi, MFR, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, who personally handed the award to Soneye.
Soneye’s recognition highlights his influential role in shaping public discourse, managing communications under pressure, and leading public relations with clarity and integrity.
The citation read at the event credited him with “enhancing transparency, trust, and professionalism in corporate communications.”
“Soneye’s performance is a testament to years of hard work, innovation, and a deep understanding of media dynamics,” one presenter remarked.
An experienced journalist turned corporate communicator, Soneye brings decades of media expertise to his role. He has earned a reputation for effectively navigating high-stakes communication scenarios, crafting impactful narratives, and fostering a culture of transparency at NNPC Ltd.
This latest honour follows his earlier win as Spokesperson of the Year 2025 by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in Abuja.
Beyond his role at NNPC, Soneye has held significant positions in the media world. He is a former President of the Nigerian Media Practitioners in Washington, D.C., and is affiliated with respected professional groups including the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).
His accolades and affiliations underline a career dedicated to excellence, influence, and impact in communications—both in Nigeria and internationally.
