The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to halting the ongoing wave of violence in Plateau State, following fresh attacks that have claimed dozens of lives.

During a visit to the headquarters of Operation Safe Haven in Jos, Ribadu met with security officials and community leaders to assess the situation firsthand. His trip came after coordinated assaults on several villages in Bokkos Local Government Area, where more than 50 people were reportedly killed and over 300 homes destroyed.

“We are determined to put an end to these senseless killings,” Ribadu declared. “The Federal Government is fully committed to finding lasting solutions.”

As survivors grapple with the aftermath, Plateau State authorities have also stepped in. Secretary to the State Government, Samuel Jatau, toured the affected areas to evaluate the level of destruction and distribute emergency relief supplies to displaced residents.

In Manguna, a local traditional leader appealed for more boots on the ground to help restore peace and prevent further displacement. “We need additional security forces in our communities to stop this rural-to-urban migration,” the District Head urged.

Yohanna Michael, the head of Hurti community, shared a grim account of the violence. “Over thirty people were buried in a mass grave, and many are still missing,” he recounted, adding that the search for victims continues.

So far, more than 700 individuals have been forced from their homes, and community leaders say government intervention is urgently needed to ensure their safe return and resume farming activities.

Meanwhile, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) condemned the attacks and urged federal authorities to take swift action.

“ACF reiterates its long-standing stance that every new such experience is one too many,” the group said in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Tukur Muhammad-Baba. “Clearly, the people are in great pain, with their situation compounded by existential economic challenges. The killing spree on the Plateau must be stopped immediately, and peace must return to the State.
