In a decisive operation against oil theft and pipeline vandalism, Nigerian Navy personnel from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Escravos raided Oteghele community in Warri South West LGA, Delta State, on Friday night. The raid led to the discovery and dismantling of two illegal refining sites containing approximately 5,500 litres of stolen crude oil and 2,000 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
According to Navy Captain Ikenna Okoloagu, Commanding Officer of FOB Escravos, the operation was part of the ongoing Operation Delta Sanity II and was driven by credible intelligence. “The sustained fight against crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and other acts of economic sabotage supports efforts to boost Nigeria’s daily crude oil production,” Okoloagu stated.
This success follows another operation just two weeks prior, where the Navy deactivated three illegal refining sites in the same area, recovering 3,700 litres of stolen crude oil and 2,600 litres of refined AGO.
Captain Okoloagu warned economic saboteurs to cease illegal activities, asserting that the Navy remains resolute in denying criminals freedom of action and ensuring they face justice. The Navy’s relentless efforts signal a firm commitment to securing Nigeria’s oil infrastructure and preserving national resources.
