  • Love Me Jeje samples Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 Nigerian classic of the same name.
  • The song has 125 million Spotify streams and 21 million YouTube views.

Emotional Grammy Acceptance Speech

Overwhelmed with emotion, Tems expressed her gratitude, saying:

“Wow, dear God, thank you so much for putting me on this stage and bringing this team. Tomorrow is my mum’s birthday, and this is her first Grammys.”

She also paid tribute to her mother, acknowledging her sacrifices for Tems and her brother.

National Recognition & Grammy Nominations

Tems’ achievement has been widely celebrated in Nigeria.

  • President Bola Tinubu commended her for bringing “pride” to the nation on the global stage.
  • Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, also congratulated her on this incredible feat.

President Tinubu, through his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, praised the rise of young Nigerian artists who have propelled Afrobeats to international prominence, making Nigeria a global powerhouse of music and culture.

This year, Tems was also nominated in two other categories:

  • Best Global Music Album (Born in the Wild)
  • Best R&B Song (Burning)

With eight Grammy nominations and now two Grammy wins, Tems continues to elevate African music and culture on the global stage.
