Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has said governors in Nigeria’s South-West region are working closely together to tackle insecurity and strengthen safety across the zone.
Aiyedatiwa stated that the six governors have continued to collaborate through coordinated security initiatives, intelligence sharing and joint efforts aimed at addressing threats posed by criminal groups operating within the region.
According to the governor, the security challenges facing the South-West require collective action rather than isolated responses by individual states. He noted that governors in the region remain committed to protecting lives and property through sustained cooperation with security agencies and local stakeholders.
Aiyedatiwa said the South-West has recorded progress in confronting insecurity due to the growing partnership among state governments and the activities of regional security outfits.
“We are working together and collaborating to secure the region,” he said, stressing that no state can effectively combat modern security threats without support from neighbouring states.
The governor explained that regular consultations among South-West leaders have helped improve responses to kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal activities. He added that intelligence gathering and information exchange have become critical components of the region’s security strategy.
Aiyedatiwa also assured residents that governments across the zone would continue investing in security infrastructure and supporting law enforcement agencies to enhance public safety.
He called on citizens to cooperate with security personnel by providing timely and credible information that could help prevent crime and aid investigations.
The governor reaffirmed the commitment of South-West leaders to maintaining peace and stability, expressing confidence that ongoing collaboration would further strengthen security and create a safer environment for residents, businesses and investors across the region.
